Diodes has developed a process to manufacture next-generation high-voltage rectifiers.

Named Diodestar, the process has just delivered its first device, a high-efficiency 600 V, 8 A rectifier targeted at LCD-LED TV power supplies.

The process is characterised by high-voltage handling, soft recovery and ultra-fast switching. It will support the production of a range of high-voltage rectifier products for a variety of end applications, including LCD-LED TVs, notebook and desktop computers.

The first device to be released is the DSR8V600, a 600 V 8 A-rated rectifier, tailored for use as the boost diode in the power factor correction circuits of single and dual-stage switched mode power supplies up to 1000 W.

Optimised for PFC duties in continuous and boundary conduction mode, this family of rectifiers offers soft recovery with ultra-fast switching capability (TRR <30 ns), meeting the requirements of the 80 Plus Energy Star standard for SMPS.
