Cliff Electronics rugged locking connector range

A range of rugged, locking connectors is designed for general industrial multipole power connection where a locking system is essential to prevent accidental disconnection and provide touch-proof mating. Three ranges are available enabling users to select the most appropriate connector for any application.

Cliffcon connectors meet the safety requirements of EN60065, IEC348 and IEC1010-1, have an operating temperature of -20 to +80°C and may be provided as complete cable assemblies.

The 4-pole connector has been designed for high-power applications and is housed in a tough, touch-proof shell with an easy locking/unlocking mechanism, secure integral cable clamp and a cable entry gland which may be trimmed to accommodate a wide range of cable diameters from 6-15 mm. Gold-plated pins ensure connection and for additional safety the connector is fitted with a leading ground pin which makes first and breaks last.

The connector is available in 250 and 120 V AC versions with a 20 A RMS current rating and has coded keyways to prevent accidental misconnection. A range of plug terminations is available including Faston push connectors, screw or solder terminals.

The plugs are available in straight and right-angled versions and the matching sockets are available for countersunk or self-tapping screw fixing to panels, with horizontal and vertical PCB mounting versions.

Cliffcon 8-pole connectors have the same features as the 4-pole range while being rated for 250 V AC and 10 A RMS. The plug is right angled and has vertical PCB and panel-mount matching sockets. An optional protective cover is available for the range.

The Miniature ZC series of plugs and sockets may be specified with two to eight poles with either straight or 90° plug versions. Primarily intended for low voltage and signal applications the ZC series is rated at 1 A per pin at 48 V DC maximum and provides a multipole connection system.
