Artesyn has introduced a series of compact 250 W AC-DC power supplies that are suitable front-end conversions for systems with distributed power architectures.

The NLP250 series power supplies provide a choice of 12, 24 or 48 V outputs to simplify system integration, backed by extensive control and monitoring features to satisfy a wide variety of DC supply requirements.

For distributed power applications, the 24 and 48 V models are suitable for feeding onboard isolated brick or intermediate bus converters, while the 12 V model can be used to directly power boards fitted with multiple non-isolated point-of-load DC-DC converters.

In addition to the main output channel, each power supply also provides an auxiliary 'always-on' 5 VDC output for applications that require standby operation, as well as a 12 V output for powering fans.

The supplies employ a rugged U-channel construction, combined with integrated layout and packaging techniques, to realise a small form factor, high functionality unit capable of delivering high levels of usable power.

The supplies high a power density of 0.36 W per cm3.

The main output channel can deliver up to 175 W continuously under free air convection conditions, rising to 250 W with 200 LFM forced air cooling.

All the supplies feature a universal input that accepts any voltage in the range 85 to 264 AC at any frequency from 47 to 63 Hz.

Active power factor correction minimises input harmonic current distortion and ensures compliance with the international EN61000-3-2 standard. The power supplies employ the latest high frequency switchmode technology to maximise conversion efficiency, typically achieving 84% at full load with a 115 VAC input, and 86% with a 230 VAC input.
