UPS battery management

Rittal has launched RiBat, a management system claimed to be capable of extending the life of UPS batteries by 30%.

The system includes two components, the manager and the module. The module controls the charging for each battery connected. This prevents overcharging and the service life of the battery is extended. Up to 250 modules can be joined using pre-assembled cabling and connected to the manager.

Over the service life of the monitored battery the manager collects all relevant data such as battery voltage, internal resistance, discharge curve and temperature.

The data can then be evaluated and used to control charging. At the same time, the manager enables each individual battery to be charged optimally.
