Maxim MAX13450E/MAX13451E RS485 transceivers

Maxim has released the MAX13450E/MAX13451E, RS485 transceivers that integrate software-/pin-selectable, dual-termination (100/120 Ω) resistors to simplify RS485 network configuration.

The transceivers are suitable for industrial control equipment, IP camera installations and other RS485 network applications.

By integrating switchable termination resistors, the devices allow users to configure the network solely through software. The integrated dual-termination resistors support both 24 AWG and Cat 5/Cat 6 cables without any signal integrity problems.

Both devices integrate a low-voltage logic interface (down to 1.62 V) to support small-geometry ASICs/FPGAs without the need for additional parts. The 13451E has a fault alarm indicator to protect the system against driver errors and the 13450E features a logic-inversion function to reverse the A-B signals in case they are connected incorrectly.

Pin-selectable slew-rate limiting improves EMI performance, while ESD protection (±30 kV) and a motor vehicle temperature range protect against harsh environments.
