M2M Connectivity has launched an ethernet board for the Sierra Wireless AirLink FX GPRS modem.

The internal expansion socket module (IESM) ethernet board can be fitted to the modem to connect remote serial devices to an ethernet network over GPRS.

The board has a 10Base-T RJ45 interface and expands the functionality of the standard Sierra Wireless Airlink FX to an ethernet device for machine-to-machine applications.

The Ethernet/Fastrack Supreme bundle can act as a router/gateway using wireless GSM/GPRS to provide primary network connectivity to any ethernet device or small networks of IP devices.

Other key features of the board include: internet plug-in (WIP 5.0) allows automatic connection to the internet due to TCP/IP; DNS support; DHCP client for automatic configuration or static IP addressing; IP routing and gateway.
