Ferromagnetic sensor

19 April, 2004

Banner Engineering has announced its M-Gage S18M vehicle detection sensor.

Miniature sensors

13 May, 2003

Banner Engineering has available the VS4 series opposed-mode self-contained miniature sensors.

Mini laser sensor

15 April, 2003

Banner Engineering has introduced the World-Beam QS18LE series laser emitters designed for use as a DC powered 'laser pointer' in an industrial housing as well as the emitter half of an opposed mode sensor pair.

Varnish sensor

20 March, 2003

Despite the use of computer simulation, wind tunnel testing is still required to measure pressure changes and airflow speeds on the surfaces of new aircraft and automobile prototypes. Such testing is now done less with smoke visualisation and threads but more frequently with high-tech sensors which have the least influence on air flows. Film sensors made from piezoelectric materials provide one alternative. However, such films are difficult to apply - especially on rounded surfaces - and they do not adhere well under windy conditions. These disadvantages have been overcome with a varnish developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Plymer Research IAP.

VOC sensor

07 January, 2003

Figaro TGS2620 is a volatile organic compound (VOC) sensor with high sensitivity to alcohol and organic solvent vapours.

Mass flow sensing for high accuracy measurement

05 January, 2003 by Sam Kresch, Product Manager, Fluid Components International

Accurate flow measurement impacts process safety, throughput, recipe, quality and cost, affecting bottom line profit or loss. Obtaining accurate flow measurement begins with selecting the best flowmeter technology for the specific application media

Control Sensors

08 October, 2002

The MTS range of displacement sensors provides a method of position feedback. The magnetostrictive technology allows these sensors to be used in a wide range of applications including those where there may be high shock and vibration such as moulding machines, saw milling and hydraulic cylinders.

Microprinting cuts biodetector sensor size

09 April, 2002

Looking to cut biodetector size and cost, Washington State University researchers have applied microprinting to the design of lab-on-a-chip systems.

Proximity Sensor

13 March, 2002

Turck has introduced the Q10 compact inductive sensors. They are low cost, long range sensing devices that fit and function where standard size units do not.

Linear Sensor

16 October, 2001

Penny & Giles Controls has added a third model to its sealed linear sensor range with the introduction of the SLS130.
