Hong Kong signing

The Electronics and ICT Association (EICTA) has signed an agreement with the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Association.

The agreement will enhance export opportunities for South Australia's electronics and ICT companies aiming to do business directly in Hong Kong as a gateway to China.

EICTA CEO Steve Adcock explained that leading up to the agreement the association's export development executive, Christine Cromarty, had closely examined Hong Kong's status in global electronics and IT markets.

Ms Cromarty noted that Hong Kong enjoys an advanced IT status largely due to a good telecommunications infrastructure. This stems from Hong Kong being the world's first city to have a fully digitised fixed telephone network and operating Asia's largest commercial satellite-earth station.

"The agreement will take the form of a memorandum of understanding," stated Adcock. "The main purpose is to serve as a streamlined gateway for members of both associations to engage in business with each other. Other advantages include reciprocal use of facilities, joint trade delegations and tailored marketing activities."
