New EICTA president

Peter Charlesworth, General Manager of Minelab Electronics, has become president of the Electronics and ICT Association. Peter has been a director of the EIA (also known as EICTA) since September 2003, including president from September 2006, and is a member of the Australia Institute of Company of Directors.

He has been working in the electronics industry for more than 20 years. Currently he is responsible for about 150 people worldwide including manufacturing and sales in Cork, Ireland and sales and support in Las Vegas, USA.

He has been general manager of new business, HF radio market development and engineering. Before Codan he was a business unit manager at Tenix Defence — Electronics Systems Division (formerly Vision Systems — Defence).

His main focus as president will be to: make the newly merged organisation into one cohesive representative body for technology companies with a footprint in South Australia; review and develop a 10-year combined strategic plan; roll out the quality export and skills programs more broadly; grow membership through the provision of value to both members and stakeholders.
