connectBlue Multiradio Module OWL355 for the Internet of Things

The connectBlue Multiradio Module OWL355 is a ready-to-embed module for demanding industrial, medical and the Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The module offers multiradio capability across Classic Bluetooth, Bluetooth low energy and WLAN with full dual-band support for the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio bands.

The module is completely ready to embed in demanding IoT, industrial and medical applications. It meets a high quality level regarding both IPC class and AQL standards and also requires no trimming and tuning during the end-product manufacturing, as the product has pre-calibrated radio parameters and MAC address stored onboard in EEPROM.

Together with the open-source Linux host driver, the module minimises the work needed to implement wireless technology in a device as it will provide hardware, modular radio type approval, EMC certification, Bluetooth qualification, wide range of certified antennas and offers a long life cycle.

The product enables robust wireless connectivity for embedded systems across Classic Bluetooth v2.1+EDR, Bluetooth low energy v4.0 and Wireless LAN (WLAN) 802.11 a, b, g, n. It has full dual-band support for the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz U-NII bands (U-NII band 1, 2, 2e, 3).

For demanding industrial and medical wireless applications, the module’s features include solder castellations for visual inspection, an extended operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C, WLAN SDIO or SPI host interface and Bluetooth UART host interface.
