The latest Freescale MCF51AG family expands the 32-bit ColdFire microcontroller portfolio by offering products with DMA and iEvent modules to handle data transaction and interrupt management, off-loading CPU overheads and increasing overall performance.
The peripheral set is aligned to the needs of three-phase motor control to improve the overall energy efficiency, and also includes functionality important for system safety and integrity, such as an advanced, independently clocked COP, external watchdog monitor and a cyclic redundancy check engine providing CLK failure protection and memory content validation for applications covered by regulations such as IEC60730.
Key features of MCF51AG128 include: CPU - 32-bit Coldfire V1 50 MHz CPU, 25 MHz bus frequency, operating across 2.7 to 5.5 V range; up to 128 KB of embedded, secured and protected flash memory with 16 KB of SRAM; DMA and iEvent modules help system software design by handling data transaction and interrupt management, thereby off-loading CPU overhead and increasing overall performance; ADC, HSCMP and flex timer modules can combine to control three-phase sensorless BLDC or three-phase AC motors; SCI, SPI, I2C communication peripherals for simple and efficient data exchange; WDOG, CRC, EWM, EGPIO functionality for enhanced system safety and integrity, addressing IEC 60730 needs; EGPIO providing flexibility in PCB design and layout with increased functionality on every digital pin; package options include 48LQFP, 64LQFP, 64QFP and 80LQFO.
