AEEMA hosts Taiwan telematics industry mission
AEEMA has announced the success of the inaugural Taiwan automotive telematics industry mission which has been visiting Melbourne this week to meet Australian technology companies affiliated with AEEMA's National Telematics Cluster.
The organisations visiting Australia from Taiwan include companies such as BenQ, Sunon, Rhoson and Princeton Technology, that are looking to develop partnerships with Australian counterparts as well as the Mechanical Industrial Research Laboratories of ITRI (Taiwan's principal R&D agency) and the Automotive Research Testing Centre, two groups that are scheduled to meet with representatives of Australia's new AutoCRC.
The planned activities include a workshop at the National ITS Centre in Port Melbourne involving some 20 Australian companies, individual matched meetings, as well as site visits.
"The workshop's objective is to introduce potential partners from Australia and Taiwan, then give them the tools to share their ideas and open up new markets for a range of Australian telematics systems," said Bill Petreski, general manager of ITECplace, which is one of the workshop conveners.
In an address to the opening of the workshop session yesterday, AEEMA's chief executive, Angus M Robinson paid particular tribute to the efforts of TEEMA in identifying and sourcing Taiwan participants in the automotive telematics mission.
The telematics mission program includes an official reception this evening sponsored by one of the workshop participants, Futuris Automotive, and is to be addressed by the Hon Tim Holding MP, Victorian Minister for Finance, Tourism, and Information and Communication Technology.
