Order won for bus computers

Kontron has won a further multimillion-euro order, this time from the Walloon Transport Company in Belgium.

A master agreement entailing an order volume of over €8 million has now been signed.

As part of the first step, the plan is to equip over 2500 buses from 2010 with a local public transport system that will ensure a boost to safety, reliability and punctuality.

The networked embedded computers are based on energy-saving Intel Atom processors, which optimally meet the high demands made of them. Using GPS positioning and GSM mobile modules, they guarantee good fleet management as well as reliable location monitoring and schedule optimisation.

FireWire interfaces allow rapid data reconciliation at the depot and RFID allows the implementation of innovative types of non-cash ticketing.
