Murata has added a miniature 3 A, SIP model to its Okami family of non-isolated point-of-load DC/DC converters.
The OKR-T/3-W12-C is for designs that require a wide input voltage range where board space is limited. Typical applications include datacom routers and servers, plus industrial equipment such as LED signage, POS systems and power amplifiers where the new DC/DC converters can meet the onboard power needs of ASICs, FPGAs, microprocessors and communications ICs.
The device has an input voltage range of 4.5 to 14 DC (12 DC nominal) and a programmable output voltage from 0.591 DC to 6.0 DC. Power conversion efficiency is 93% and the modules can drive ceramic capacitive loads up to 200 µF.
Based on 600 kHz synchronous buck topology, the converter features include programmable output voltage and on/off control, undervoltage lockout, overcurrent and overtemperature protection.
