ACS Motion Control has enhanced the drive operation of its MC4U integrated modular control system with the development of a 4-axis high-voltage universal digital drive module.
Designated the DDM3U-4-320V, it is suitable for positioning applications including linear and rotary servomotors, step motors and induction motors.
The amplifier is fully controlled by a dedicated servo processor at the controller level. This reduces cost and improves performance, allowing more advanced control algorithms including multiple input-multiple output control.
The drives allow users to employ many different types of motors, including DC brush motors, DC brushless/AC servo motors (two or three phase), stepper motors (open loop or sinusoidally commutated closed loop) and AC induction motors.
The card comes in a 2- or 4-axis version, with 1 A continuous/3 A peak current rating or a 3 A continuous/9 A peak current rating (per axis). It provides up to 800 W of continuous power (2400 W peak) per axis and operates at 24-320 VDC.
