Line digital I/O modules

Interworld Electronics has released two USB-104 form factor digital I/O modules from Acces I/O.

The USB-DIO-48 and the USB-DIO-96 provide 48 or 96 lines of TTL-compatible buffered digital I/O with high current capabilities. The modules are USB 2.0 high-speed devices and are compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 computer ports.

Their plug-and-play ability allows you to quickly connect and disconnect whenever additional I/O is needed.

The modules provide either six or 12 eight-bit digital I/O ports. Each port can be programmed to accept inputs or to drive outputs such as PLC's or relays. Power is supplied to the cards via the USB cable or, for higher source current capabilities, an external power option may be used.

The I/O wiring connections are via two or four industry-standard 50-pin connectors. For external circuits, fused +5 VDC power is available at pin 49 of each I/O connector.

All I/O lines can source 32 mA or sinking 64 mA. Jumper selected resistors permit configuration of each 24-bit/50-pin connector group for pull-up (to +5 VDC), pull-down (to ground) or floating depending on the application requirement.

The modules provide a custom function driver capable of updating all 48/96 bits about 4000 times/s.
