Maxim has introduced the MAX1167/MAX1168 200 kSps, 16 bit multichannel ADCs.

These serially interfaced devices connect directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without external logic.

Both devices combine an input multiplexer, a high-bandwidth track/hold, an internal oscillator, 4.096 V bandgap reference, and a 16 bit successive-approximation ADC.

The ADCs can operate with their internal reference or an external reference.

Good dynamic performance (THD $lt;-100 dB), DC accuracy (±0.5 LSB DNL, ±1 LSB INL), high speed (200 kSps), and low current consumption (2.9 mA at 200 kSps) make these ADCs suitable for applications such as industrial process control, instrumentation and medical.

The MAX1168 includes an 8 channel multiplexer and the MAX1167 accepts up to four analog inputs.

These parts operate from a single 4.75 to 5.25 V supply (AVDD) and feature a separate digital supply voltage (DVDD), allowing direct interface with 2.7 to 5.25 V digital logic. Their programmable scan mode converts each channel sequentially or one channel continuously.

DSP-initiated conversions are simplified with the DSP frame-sync input and output, while an 8 bit or 16 bit data transfer mode can be selected with the data-bit transfer input featured in the MAX1168.
