Based on the in-house expertise in vibration characteristic of piezoceramic material and microacoustics, Sonitron has developed what it claims is the first flat piezoceramic speaker for underwater applications.

The speaker is based on a new principle of piezoceramics and composite metal/polymer layer. The composite membrane reduces unwanted resonance peaks to provide a more even frequency response.

The frame and front panel are injection moulded in one part. At the back the PCB is sealed at its edges with a water-tight glue.

The SPS-4640-UW-01 speaker also features low weight, limited distortion and low energy consumption relative to sound output level.

Piezoceramic speakers do not generate an electromagnetic field, making it easier for designers to ensure that their products meet EMC requirements and regulations.
