The Atmel display Xplained is an add-on board for the Xplain kit. Together they create a platform for graphical application development on Atmel AVR XMEGA.

It is a platform that gives a start for anyone undertaking graphical application development. Instead of spending time on hardware and low-level development, a user can be up and running on an application level in a few simple steps and have application prototypes ready in days or weeks.

The kit consists of a QVGA (320 x 240) resolution colour display that stacks directly on top of the evaluation kit. This is hardware based on the ATxmega128A1 device and gives the user a solution that scales across the AVR XMEGA family of microcontrollers.

It is also a complete software library, from the low-level graphical drivers up to the graphical elements and a touch-enabled window system with widgets and small applications running on top.

The user can start development directly from here. It is possible to replace applications layers for different displays and drivers and scale the software with the application complexity.

Training material and documentation on hardware and software are supplied to help ensure the customer gets through a successful evaluation and to application completion in a safe and easy way.
