Citrix Systems has announced NetScaler 9, for improving the efficiency of web-based applications.

It combines optimisation with application intelligence that automatically recommends the optimal configuration for each unique web application. This can reduce the cost of delivering enterprise web applications by up to 50%.

The package introduces AppExpert Templates that captures hundreds of deployment details so that web application optimisations can be applied immediately, without any manual intervention.

AppExpert Visualizer builds and displays an end-to-end view of the application delivery deployment. With it, IT managers have a view of run-time health and status.

Also included is AppExpert Rate Controls that allows IT managers to ensure SLAs for different classes of users. Legitimate application users can gain access to applications while traffic from spiders, web scrapers and botnets can be throttled back or redirected.
