Omnetics Micro-miniature and Nano-miniature hybrid connectors

The main challenge when designing SWaP-optimised electronics is finding the delicate balance between size, weight and power consumption without physically compromising the devices overall performance, durability and reliability. Omnetics Connector Corporation offers variations of its Micro-miniature and Nano-miniature products that provide designers with the ability to reduce SWaP without the need for additional connectors.

The hybrid connectors are available with mixed power/signal contact layouts. The shape and number of power/signal contacts may be specified to provide flexibility in circuit design, while ensuring that the connector is kept to the minimum necessary size.

The hybrid combination eliminates the need to have a d-sub type or other higher power connector present, making it easier for the operator who now only needs to mate a single connector. The company has the ability to add up to 10 A contacts in its Micro series and 5 A contacts in its Nano series.

The hybrid connectors are available in wired or through-hole PCB mount termination types and can be packaged in the conventional screw-together type Micro-D/Nano-D shells or the company’s quick-latching form factor. Hybrid circular designs are also available in an Omnetics insulator as well as in a metal shell, ie, threaded, twist-lock and quick-disconnect breakaway shell types.
