Network restructure in Indonesia

Friday, 20 August, 2010

Datacraft will extensively restructure the backbone network that connects 14 sites across the Indonesian islands.

The high-capacity system will increase the scope of service provider ICON+’s offering to include high-speed intercity voice and data transit, broadband internet and video.

ICON+ is a subsidiary of Indonesia’s largest electricity company, PT PLN (Persero), offering network services based on protocol independent data transmission for companies such as Clear Channel.

Its internet protocol virtual private network extends over 27,300 km across the islands of Java, Bali and Sumatra using PLN’s right of ways.

Due to the increasing demand on the network, there was a serious concern on the ability of the P/PE topology to cope.

Datacraft has recommended installing a Cisco CRS-1 series backbone router and segregation of the P/PE routers under the IP core network for increased capacity, scalability and more efficient use of bandwidth.
