Avalue EPB-1001 expansion power bank for embedded panel PCs
Avalue Technology has released its lightweight expansion power bank, the EPB-1001, for embedded panel PCs. Designed to provide expanded power to various types of panel PCs, it allows stationary panel PCs to be moved around freely with unlimited reserves of power, and is suitable for applications including medical carts, telehealth carts, laboratory, industrial automation, heavy-industry manufacturing and robotics.
Adopting VESA standards, the product is compatible with all Avalue panel PCs. Its two batteries together only weigh 900 g and the external box is 1.2 kg. In comparison to traditional cart batteries, there is said to be a ~90% decrease in weight, making it easy to move around. When used with Avalue HID-series medical panel PCs, the device provides continuous power for a minimum of 8 h.
The product features an external box that can be opened with a hand screw, so the user can quickly hot swap batteries by hand without the need to turn off the system or interrupt ongoing tasks. The unit is available in two voltages output — 12 and 19 V — allowing the user to choose the right type of voltage for their connected device.
The power bank is compliant with UL 60601-1 standards, making it suitable for use in healthcare scenarios. The use of a mobile power supply reduces the cluttering of wires and cables, decreasing bacterial adhesion and facilitating sterilisation. Each power bank comes with two lightweight batteries with the option to purchase a four-slot lithium battery charger. When completely drained, it only takes about 4 h to fully charge both batteries. With fully charged batteries at the ready, a mobile cart can provide 24/7 uninterrupted power supply.
A built-in battery management tool allows the user to check power level, charging status, battery temperature and system temperature. Battery consumption and operation duration can also be set on a webpage; for instance, the product can be set to go into sleep mode after 60 s of not being connected to an adapter when power consumption is lower than 5 W. The built-in battery management tool is compatible with Windows 7 and 10 operating systems.
