Double conversion UPS

APC has introduced its Smart-UPS RT 15 and 20 kVA power protection models in a 12U size for rack or tower installation.

The company expects the models will appeal to IT and facilities professionals who manage server rooms, server closets and small to medium data centres using high-density applications.

When implemented together, the company’s models can help IT and networking managers protect Power-over-Ethernet equipment against overloads, outages, surges and spikes.

Features include: high-density design in a 12U size that saves space; flexible electrical configuration of 1:1, 3:1 or 3:3 input/output wiring that avoids rewiring the server room or network closet; convertible form factor allows for rack or tower installations; hot-swappable battery and system fans; dual mains input increases availability by allowing the UPS to connect to two separate power sources; intelligent 3 kW charger that automatically detects the addition of Smart-UPS battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for faster recharge time; bundled management allow UPS configuration and diagnoses remotely or on site; LCD communicates UPS status for fast diagnosis and control; field-replaceable receptacle panels allow direct connection enabling fast installation of new IT equipment; removable wiring tray enables fast, easy, reliable installation in any existing wiring scenario.

Users can select additional items such as external battery enclosures and power distribution units, NetShelter rack and enclosures and service bypass panels, APC Global.

All units are supplied with a remote management capability featuring PowerChute monitoring software. Centralised management is simple using InfraStruXure Manager as well as other server management tools such as LAN Manager.
