Magellan Power Lithium Battery Bank with Battery Monitoring System

Wednesday, 23 May, 2018 | Supplied by: Magellan Power

Magellan Power’s Lithium Battery Bank for UPS applications uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are said to have several advantages over VRLA batteries. Lithium is less than one-third of the weight and half the size, works at a higher temperature, has a longer shelf life, has a flatter discharge curve and can charge and discharge many more times than VRLA. This, together with long life (20 years) in standby use, makes lithium batteries suitable for UPS applications.

The bank’s Battery Monitoring System monitors voltage, current, temperature and capacity of every cell and works independently to protect the battery cells against high voltage, overdischarge and overtemperature. This inherent feature is designed to make the bank safer than the equivalent lead acid battery bank that relies entirely on the quality of the associated battery charger.

Available at 24, 48, 110 and 240 V banks, the lithium iron phosphate battery is a suitable replacement for VRLA and NiCad batteries. Applications for lithium include many AC and DC backup power applications, remote area power, solar applications and energy storage.
