Advanced technique to calculate junction temperature

Supplied by Semikron Pty Ltd on Wednesday, 12 February, 2020

A legitimate but complex question is how does one use the integrated temperature sensor inside a power semiconductor module to determine the virtual junction temperature? There are several answers depending on the required accuracy and the goal of the temperature prediction.

This application note will explain two possible methods: one at the lower end and one at the higher end of the complexity scale.
