element14 has partnered with Texas Instruments, Würth Elektronik and Cadsoft to speed up the integration of wireless power solutions into consumer electronics designs, such as smartphones, digital cameras and MP3 players.

With today’s portable devices demanding an increasing amount of power, and high-power batteries requiring more advanced control systems, engineers must now consider a number of safety risks in new and existing designs. Qi-compliant contactless charging not only meets Wireless Power Consortium specifications; it is an option for any device that is powered by a USB or 5/19 V DC adapters.

By means of webinars, product ‘RoadTests’ and technical support, a new wireless power microsite will help designers to avoid safety problems and ensure Qi-compliant interoperability between systems. This microsite hosts a product RoadTest that will provide selected design engineers with transmitter manager and receiver solutions from TI and Würth plus EAGLE V6 software, at no cost. Those chosen as RoadTesters are then asked to post their product evaluations to benefit their colleagues in the community.

Access to discussions, technical support and training videos are also available at http://www.element14.com/wireless-power-solutions.
