The Yokogawa DL1540CL digital oscilloscope - which has a colour TFT LCD and large recording memory - is now available with a new I2C bus analysis option. This turns the DL1540CL into an I2C bus analyser.

Systems with multiple ICs use the I2C bus for communication. It is a simple, bidirectional, two-wire, serial bus with serial data (SDA) and serial clock (SCL).

This bus is used in devices such as analogue and digital TVs, set-top boxes, digital VCRs, DVDs, video cameras, MDs, car stereos, navigation systems, refrigerators, microwave ovens, cellular phones and notebook PCs (SM bus).

Essentially the I2C feature is an enhanced trigger, signal processing and display function. This I2C option (/F5) will include the /F1, enhanced trigger functions as well as the I2C triggers.

In addition to the I2C option, Yokogawa now offers a 2.1 GB HDD for the DL1540CL (option /C8). This has been added to support the I2C option, providing onboard storage capacity.

The analyser offers additional features such as data search and display.

Data search allows rapid search of specified addresses and data in the analysed result, while the high speed (refresh rates up to 30 times per second), clear waveform display accuracy captures and displays analogue phenomena on bus signals that cannot be observed with a logic analyser.
