Modular flowmeter

ABB has released the variable area master FAM540 series that is based on a modular system offering flowmeters with a simple indicator or including an electronic transmitter.

The display delivers advantages such as simultaneous indication of flow and counter, menu-driven operation in clear text, configurable switching output as well as a self-testing functionality for simplified commissioning.

All indicators have instrument read-out because the needle’s vibrations are substantially minimised. The operation via the graphical display allows a simple adjustment to changing operating conditions.

Externally the instrument generation has improved readability of the display with the four-button operator keypad and new ex-approvals.

The user can configure the flowmeter at the meter site without resorting to any written instructions.

The instant flow rate and the totaliser values are simultaneously indicated on the four-line graphic display. Instruments without a display, but with a current output, can be configured using HART communication on a handheld or DTM.
