True-RMS AC ammeters

Murata has introduced a series of digital AC ammeters with alarm for measuring and displaying complex, true-RMS, non-sinusoidal AC circuits.

The Datel ACA-20RM-ALM AC ammeters are self-contained and include a built-in current transformer to simplify their use in numerous applications. The integral alarm is triggered when the user-settable overcurrent value is exceeded. The red LED display continually flashes from low to high intensity to indicate an alarm condition.

Suitable for measuring currents in sensitive IT and telecom equipment, the instrument series comprises two models providing an input range choice of either 0 to 30 A or 0 to 50 A. Both have a resolution of 0.1 A and the 50 A model features a split core type current transformer that can be clamped around insulated live conductors.

Two 50/60 Hz AC power supply options are available, giving users a choice of either 85 to 140 VAC (nominally 120 VAC) or 170 to 264 VAC (nominally 240 VAC). Power consumption is less than 50 mA. 2 kV isolation is specified between the AC supply and the load conductor.

The series features a 0.37" 3½-digit, bright LED display and a built-in bezel/filter assembly with metal fasteners.
