Die-cast aluminium enclosures

Hammond Electronics has launched the initial 10 sizes in the new 1550 family, a range of industry-standard sizes small die-cast aluminium enclosures that are said to provide robust mechanical protection and good EMC attenuation levels.

The full range will consist of 16 sizes, all of which will be available by the end of 2009. Available with a natural or black epoxy powder-coated finish, the units are supplied in two versions, standard and watertight. The watertight units are supplied with a separate self-adhesive gasket that provides IP66 sealing, enabling them to be used in both benign and hostile environments.

The thin wall aluminium enclosures are said to have high-impact strength but are also easily drilled and punched. The initially available sizes range from 60 x 55 x 26 mm to 115 x 90 x 51 mm; the largest size in the family will be 275 x 175 x 65 mm.
