The Trace32 ICD and Trace32 PowerTools debuggers of Lauterbach now support the PowerQUICC II Pro MPC83XX family from Freescale.

These microprocessors are based on PowerPC e300, operate at a maximum clock frequency of 667 MHz and are mainly used in high-end network applications.

The Trace32 ICD and PowerDebug modules can be connected to the host computer over USB or ethernet and give access to all internal chip units, such as on-chip hardware breakpoints, peripheral equipment and registers over the processor's JTAG interface.

The download speed is about 3.2 MBps. An unlimited number of software breakpoints in the RAM and flash memories, debugging at HLL and assembler levels, programmable flash memory and support of the most important C and C++ compilers are standard features.

Using Trace32 PowerIntegrator, an optional logical analyser extension with 204 channels and a maximum recording rate of 500 MHz, the data and address bus of a processor can be recorded in real time.

The trace memory has a depth of 512 kframes. Mictor or Samtec plugs or a DRAM bus adapter are used to connect to the target. Each recording is given a time stamp with a resolution of 4 ns.
