Hioki EE has developed the safety HiTester model 3258 which provides electricians a safe and convenient means of measuring voltages in circuit breaker compartments and other control cabinets.

The instrument’s probes are optimised for LV measurements to 600 VAC, using a two-probe method to measure phase voltage to neutral/ground and also phase-to-phase.

Measurements can be made on insulated cables from 38 mm2 upwards and on busbars as well as terminals. It can be used without having to remove breaker covers to access metallic contacts thereby increasing not only safety to instrument operators but also speeding up servicing. For typical LV three-phase circuits, accuracy is ±1.5% of reading ±5 digits. For frequencies to 400 Hz accuracy is ±2.5% of reading ±5 digits.
