QC-key is a USB keypad designed specifically for use with Quick Circuit circuit board prototyping systems. These use computer-controlled milling to remove copper from normal circuit board substrates and rely on the use of a mouse or keyboard shortcuts involving multiple keystrokes to control the operation of the milling table.
The device provides all machine controls as single keystrokes in a package 160 x 110 mm, thin enough to slide away under the milling table. Key functions are user re-programmable and two uncommitted keys are provided for user-determined functions.
Pre-programmed functions include spindle on/off; head up/down; jog; move; pause; stop; home position; park position; tool change and material change; as well as cursor keys and a numeric keypad.
Principally intended for operation flat on the bench adjacent to the milling table, the keypad can also be fitted to an enclosure which elevates the operator interface to the standard keyboard comfort angle.
Although designed specifically for use with Quick Circuit PCB prototyping systems, the user-programmability of the keypad should give it wider appeal.
