Test point colours

Identifying test points in high-density PCB packages is a key to greater accuracy and Keystone Electronics has developed additional colours to expand its range of rugged devices, which replace wire-wrap posts and turret terminals.

The new colours are brown, green, blue, purple and grey, which, in addition to the existing red, black, white, yellow and orange, may be used on 1.6 and 2.4 mm thick PCBs with a variety of gripping devices.

Among these are J-hooks, EZ-hooks, grabbers, alligator clips, tips and probes. The designs keep onboard terminals perpendicular to the PCB so that relative position during and after wave soldering is maintained.

All 10 colours are available for use with the company’s miniature, compact and multipurpose test points. Miniature types are manufactured from 0.25 mm phosphor bronze with silver plating while compact and multipurpose types use the same materials sized at 0.38 mm diameter.

Miniature types mount in a single 1.0 mm diameter PCB hole, while compact and multipurpose types mount in a 1.6 mm diameter PCB hole.
