Alcatel cuts 10,000 jobs globally
Alcatel has announced it is cutting another 10,000 jobs (9% of its work force).
"The year 2002 will continue to be difficult, especially the first half," said Serge Tchuruk, chief executive.
Including these losses, the company is going to lay off 32,500 employees during 2001 and 2002. At the end of 2000, it employed 110,000 people.
