Annual photonics conference to be held in May
The second annual IEEE Photonics Society Optical Interconnects Conference will be held at The Eldorado Hotel & Spa in Santa Fe, New Mexico from 5-8 May 2013, with approximately 120 industry, academia and government attendees.
The conference will feature invited keynote talks from experts in optical interconnects, peer-reviewed presentations and poster sessions, as well as a manufacturers’ exhibition. It covers the full spectrum of high-performance interconnect challenges in interconnect systems, architectures, applications and devices, with a particular emphasis on future petascale and exascale platforms in data centres and supercomputers. A highlight in previous years has been the conference’s special working group problem session, which continues in this year’s program with a challenging disaster evacuation-related application problem based on future optical technology.
The program will offer more than 75 technical presentations by the world’s leading researchers and engineers in the field of advanced interconnect technologies for applications at all levels of computing granularity, from the chip to the enterprise. Topics for technical presentations include: interconnect systems, architectures and applications; data centre and supercomputer interconnects; optical transmitters, receivers and components; ultralow power and/or high bit rate interconnects; fundamental limits and novel concepts in electrical and wireless interconnects; silicon photonics, hybrid and monolithic photonics integration, end-to-end (electrical-optical-electrical) links; optical switching devices, architectures and control networks; emerging interconnect standards; and interconnect packaging.
“The intent of the IEEE Photonics Society Optical Interconnects Conference is to foster collaboration between government agencies, academia, semiconductor manufacturers and information technology companies to help drive new interconnect architectures and technologies,” said Ashok Krishnamoorthy and John Shalf, OI Conference 2013 General Co-Chairs.
