Wednesday, 28 September, 2016

3D printing community Pinshape has announced the ‘Design for Electronics’ contest, challenging participants to create a design that can be brought to life or used with electronics. Entries can include everything from lamp shades to Raspberry Pi cases to light switch covers and toy cars.

To enter the competition, simply design something that could integrate with electronics or be used with electronics. Then, once you’ve created your masterpiece, upload it to Pinshape.

Designs will be judged on the following criteria:

  • 40 points — Technical excellence and ease of printing
  • 20 points — Design functionality and application
  • 20 points — Design creativity and uniqueness
  • 20 points — Presentation: image quality, print settings, assembly instructions (if required)

The winner of the competition will walk away with a RoboC2 3D printer, a $200 Adafruit gift card, one spool of MH PRO filament and one Spool of Nylon X filament. There are also prizes for second and third place.

The contest is open worldwide and entrants can submit as many unique entries as they like. It is open until 15 October at 11:59 pm PST.
