Digi-Key Electronics, a supplier of electronic and automation components, has secured a distribution partnership with Siemens to offer the latter’s wide range of automation and control products.

Siemens is a supplier of high-quality products for manufacturing automation and control applications, including automotive manufacturing, data centres, electronics manufacturing, healthcare, intralogistics, food and beverage, textiles and more. The company’s future-focused software, hardware and powerful automation technologies — backed by global sales and support — cover the entire production process and offer interoperability across all automation and control components.

The partnership brings Siemens’ durable and easy-to-use products such as power supplies, human–machine interface (HMI) technology, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and heavy-duty switches to Digi-Key customers around the world.

“We are proud to partner with Siemens, the global leader in automation, to further our commitment to maintaining the world’s largest selection of automation products,” said Eric Wendt, Strategic Program Development Director at Digi-Key. “Siemens’ leading-edge technology and broad product offering, combined with our extensive reach and inventory, will be a powerful combination.”

“We’re proud to be launching our new partnership with Digi-Key,” added Marla Davids, Vice President of Digital Industrial Sales at Siemens. “Our customers expect greater flexibility and convenience now more than ever, and Digi-Key has the online product selection and unique engineering design tools that are important to their success. With Digi-Key’s special emphasis on new product introductions, we’re looking forward to further growth.”

The news comes shortly after Digi-Key announced its continued support of the Renesas Electronics and Dialog Semiconductor product portfolios, following a recent merger that saw Dialog become a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas.

As an immediate benefit of the completed merger, Digi-Key has announced five new powerful product combinations from Renesas and Dialog that are now available to customers, including:

  • A 100 W adapter with power delivery and wireless charger
  • A smart asset tracking label
  • A smart connected pulse oximeter
  • A smart ToF-based rangefinder with mobile app
  • A smart lock with superlow-power Wi-Fi and BLE

These expert designs showcase both Renesas and Dialog’s complementary, and now combined, powerhouse product portfolios for embedded processing, analog, power and connectivity. With these engineering-vetted designs, users can take advantage of an elevated platform for their design ideas, which should accelerate the product development cycle and lower the overall risk to bring their designs to market.

“We are proud to support the completion of the merger between Renesas and Dialog by offering new winning combinations from their extensive product portfolio,” said David Stein, Vice President of Global Supplier Management for Digi-Key. “These combinations capture and highlight the technological advantages provided by the newly combined company.”
