Electronex ends on a high note

Monday, 24 October, 2011

Over 1000 electronics and OEM professionals attended the Electronex Melbourne Expo, at the Melbourne Park Function Centre, from 14-15 September, to see the latest new technology solutions from leading suppliers.

The SMCBA Electronics Design and Manufacture Conference was also staged concurrently with the expo and was attended by 144 delegates from Australia and New Zealand.

Exhibitors commented on the high quality of visitors that attended the event and Electronex is being applauded by the industry as a vital networking and industry promotional forum for the Australian market. Is now established as the largest specialised exhibition for the electronics industry in Australasia.

“Electronex will now move back to Sydney in 2012 and show manager Anthony Doran from AEE said that “based on the feedback and positive response from this year’s event we expect the Sydney event to grow by nearly 50%.”

“The Sydney event will be staged at Australian Technology Park and will move into a larger exhibition space at the venue to accommodate the growth of the event,” he added.

The inaugural event was held in Sydney in 2010. This year’s Melbourne event increased in size by about 25%, with 64 exhibitors representing over 90 companies.

“The recent Melbourne show also saw an increase in attendees and re-affirms it as the major focal point and specialised industry platform for Australian and NZ-based suppliers and distributors of the latest electronics technology,” said Noel Gray, managing director, AEE Pty Ltd.

The exhibition provides a comprehensive and diverse showcase of specialist organisations providing the latest products and services for electronic product design, development, assembly, manufacture, test, measurement, repair and systems and component supply.

“The strength of attendance in Melbourne from Victorian and interstate visitors and delegates suggests that the electronics product manufacturing and systems assembly sector is still alive and well,” said Doran.

“And the government, that was notable by its absence at the event, should be focusing and supporting this event as a positive statement on the status of manufacturing in Victoria and across the nation.”

The SMCBA Electronics Design and Manufacture Conference was staged concurrently with the exhibition. Electronics design and manufacturing professionals obtained design information from some of the world’s best product design experts.

During session breaks delegates had time to visit the trade displays in the exhibition, to be provided with the latest component technology for a competitive business advantage in our challenging and highly competitive Australasian market. An industry networking night was also held on the Wednesday night immediately after the show closed and was attended by over 200 exhibitors and delegates.
