Glyn and Energy Micro, a Norwegian manufacturer of ARM-based ultralow-power microcontrollers, have signed a distribution agreement which includes all activities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

Energy Micro provides a large portfolio of energy-friendly, 32-bit microcontrollers and radio transceivers for ultralow-power applications. The EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers include the energy-efficient ARM Cortex-M4F, Cortex-M3 and Cortex-M0+ processors, and the EFR4D Draco radios will also include Cortex-M3 for good performance.

Energy Micro’s free Simplicity Studio software suite has been developed to significantly cut development time and give embedded designers the latest and most accurate information.

Glyn Jones, managing director and owner of Glyn, looks forward to this cooperation: “We see strong market interest in Energy Micro and its ultralow-power microcontroller solutions. Many development engineers all over the world see the need to extend the battery life span of their systems in a sustainable manner. We can now satisfy their needs. The new generation of EFR4D wireless ARM microcontrollers, eg, for the wireless M-Bus, IEEE 802.15 WPAN, Bluetooth, opens up many new opportunities for us. Energy Micro perfectly supplements our existing product lines.”
