Mayer Krieg expands business

Tuesday, 04 September, 2001

Mayer Krieg and REC Electronics have merged and will trade under the name of Mayer Krieg. The merger creates a components and subsystems vendor valued at over $50 million. However, in the merger 10% of the workforce will lose their jobs.

Mayer Krieg will now be ranked in the top four components distributors. "There was very little competition between Mayer Krieg and REC so we are bringing the two together to provide one source covering a broad range of the industry's needs," Mayer Krieg general manager Peter Mayer said. "Both companies have different areas of expertise but combined will give the industry access to a broader range of products through a single source company."
