PC spending to fall

Estimates of the PC industry show annual spending is set to decline for the first time.

"It is blood on the streets, frankly, when you are talking about the PC market in Australia and you have already seen several PC vendors collapse into three or four," said Bob Hayward, Gartner (research group) senior vice-president.

"Nobody wants to start a significant investment but more organisations are continuing business and supporting the investments they have already made," he said.
