Premier Farnell is expanding in the Asia Pacific with a new sales office in Penang, Malaysia.

It will be home to a number of global manufacturers that are also the company’s customers and suppliers and will house a team of sales engineers led by Mike Wong, national sales manager for Malaysia. Plans are underway for market-building activities as well as an official opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, Farnell has expanded its distribution agreement with Altera to include the Cyclone IV FPGA family through element14 and CPLD devices, latest development kits and Quartus II design software in Australia and New Zealand.

To support of Altera’s launch of its Cyclone IV FPGA family, a dedicated engineering community has been created online within element14 at http://www.element-14.com/cycloneiv offering free software and Web 2.0 tools to enable designers worldwide to discuss the technology.
