Renesas Electronics establishes new branches

Tuesday, 30 November, 2010

Renesas Electronics will open a branch in Bangalore, India, in January 2011 with the aim of expanding the company’s overseas semiconductor business, particularly in emerging markets.

The company also recently opened a branch in Melbourne.

With its rapidly increasing population, India is expected to see a continuing expansion in the use of electronic devices, such as whitegoods, consumer goods and motor vehicles; and as a result, local enterprises in these fields are also expected to experience large growth, by an average of approximately 15% per year.

India has become a hub of the IT and software industries with numbers of multinational corporations including IT companies and automakers setting up their R&D facilities.

The new Indian branch will be a branch of Renesas Electronics Singapore (a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics Corporation) that oversees sales and marketing operations in South-East Asia, South Asia and Oceania. The branch will undertake sales, marketing and technical support for the market, with a particular focus on microcontrollers for use in whitegoods and motor vehicles. It also will investigate the requirements of customers in the Indian market and supply semiconductor solutions tailored to that market.
