Renesas launches product longevity program

Wednesday, 22 January, 2014

Renesas Electronics has introduced a product longevity program (PLP) to communicate the stable, long-term supply and support of Renesas products.

The program will cover over 5000 of Renesas products, including microcontrollers, mixed-signal ICs and power semiconductor devices, for automotive, industrial and other applications for which long-term product availability is required.

The program sets up three product supply period patterns: one for products to be supplied for a minimum of 10 years, one for those to be supplied for a minimum of 15 years and one for those to be supplied for periods of 20 years or more. These periods begin either in January 2014 for products already in mass production, or at the point the product is registered in this program for products whose mass production will start in the future. For each product, Renesas will provide both product-status information and the planned supply period on the company’s website, enabling easy management of existing product lines and new supply selections.
