Semiconductor firms 'integrate'
NEC Electronics, Renesas Technology, NEC Corporation, Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric have agreed to integrate business operations at NEC Electronics and Renesas. The business integration is expected to come into operation in April 2010.
As semiconductor companies, NEC and Renesas provide a wide variety of semiconductors, specialising in microcontrollers.
The integrated company will provide products in the three major areas of MCUs, SoCs and discrete products, by concentrating its development resources.
The company aims to expand its business by offering complete solutions that extend the three major groups to best fit the requirement of users of all kinds of industries.
To address the ongoing challenges of the current economic downturn, both companies will continue to carry out structural reforms to strengthen their business frameworks.
