Skywave communications terminal wins IoT award

The IDP-782 communications terminal — manufactured by Skywave (an Orbcomm company) and distributed by M2M Connectivity — has won an IoT Innovations Award from Connected World magazine. The product provides fleet managers with a single device for both cellular and satellite network coverage over the Inmarsat IsatData Pro network, enabling them to stay connected to assets, sensors and people.

The dual-mode device provides configurable out-of-the-box software for quick deployments and flexible architecture that supports the development of custom applications for complex solutions. The product features an optional 2.5 h back-up battery option to send GPS and other information when no vehicle power is available.

The IoT Innovations Award recognised the hardware solution for technological advancement and creativity in the IoT market. Orbcomm was featured with other 2015 IoT Innovations Award winners in Connected World’s July edition.

“We are very pleased to be recognised for our commitment and leadership in technological innovation,” said Orbcomm CEO Marc Eisenberg. “Our winning asset tracking and monitoring products provide our customers with the context and meaning to enable critical decision-making and maximise operational efficiency. We are proud to deliver cost-effective, creative solutions that are transforming how businesses operate in the rapidly growing IoT community.”

M2M Connectivity will be showcasing the SkyWave IDP-782 at the Security Exhibition & Conference 2015 (stand H48) in Melbourne from 15–17 July. For more details and free entry into the event, visit http://www.securityexpo.com.au
