Microchip MCP19111 power management controller
Microchip’s MCP19111 power management controller combines the flexibility and I2C communication of digital DC/DC power conversion with the speed, performance and resolution of analog-based control. The product is a hybrid, mixed-signal controller which combines analog and digital power management into a single chip.
By integrating an analog-based PWM controller, a Flash-based 8-bit PIC microcontroller and MOSFET drivers for synchronous, step-down applications, the device enables configurable, high-efficiency power conversion. With the transient performance of analog power conversion, the unit eliminates the need for a high-MIPS microcontroller or a high-speed A/D converter, minimising cost and power consumption.
To support even higher efficiency, the product can be used to drive Microchip’s latest MCP87xxx high-speed, SMPS-optimised MOSFETs. The logic-level 25 V MOSFETs offer a low figure of merit (FOM) with on-state resistance from 1.8 to 13 mΩ to deliver higher DC/DC power conversion efficiency.
