Octagon Systems MOBL-D2 mobile platform

The MOBL-D2 is a mobile platform for long-term reliability in rugged environments. The careful circuit design, component selection, testing and heat dissipation of the device maximise reliability and minimise downtime.

The use of military connectors for I/O enhances reliability where cable stress would damage PC-style connectors. The shock suppression system is designed for 24/7 abuse, not just passing a brief MIL test.

The product incorporates the Octagon Hedgehog power supply technology, providing protection from the severe transients common in mobile power systems. It rejects load dumps, repeated transients and overvoltage.

The design tightly integrates the electrical, thermal and mechanical components into a complete system with no compromise to any one segment. It is designed for applications where high performance is required in severe environments. It allows fanless operation over a range of -30 to 70°C by using components rated for -40 to 85°C.

The platform accelerates the user’s design process. It can be supplied with Windows XPe or Linux preinstalled with all drivers. It is suitable for demanding applications like police, trucking, emergency vehicles, transit systems and other applications where the cost of failure is high.
